Rachel Benham is a British arts and culture writer and cultural specialist working across contemporary art, literature, and cultural criticism. She is currently based in Mexico City and sometimes London, following fifteen years living in Asia, where much of her critical and cultural formation took place.

Rachel’s writing is shaped by sustained cross-cultural engagement and a background in literary and cultural theory. With training at postgraduate level and experience in academia, she brings close attention to context, form, and reception to her work. Rachel’s criticism and reviews are attentive to the conditions under which artistic and literary work is produced, circulated, and read.

Alongside her writing, Rachel has worked as a practicing artist, developing long-term relationships with creatives and institutions through residencies, collaborations, and ongoing dialogue. This proximity to artistic practice informs a mode of writing that is responsive, precise, and grounded in the realities of making.

Rachel has been writing professionally for nearly a decade and has published widely in print and online. She is a regular contributor to Whitehot Magazine of Contemporary Art and The Collector, among other publications. Her work spans criticism, reviews, and creative nonfiction.
